In a big, bustling city like New York, sometimes a sense of community is a little hard to find. Not so with Capital Paint & Restoration and Capital Paint & True Value Hardware, where community is almost like a middle name.
Serving Brooklyn and Staten Island since 1995, the two stores are owned by the husband-and-wife team of Gus and Andrea Giannopoulos, who have made it a point to not only serve the paint and hardware needs of their communities but to also get behind local organizations and causes they feel passionate about. In addition to supporting the local efforts of such national and international groups as Habitat for Humanity, Susan G. Komen, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the stores give back in a big way to the communities that support them. Both stores have supplied paint to numerous schools, churches, and synagogues in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, and Staten Island. The Giannopouloses also back the Alliance for Coney Island, a nonprofit group dedicated to revitalizing the iconic boardwalk amusement park.
In fact, Pratt & Lambert paints were used to brighten the 90-year-old Cyclone roller coaster, a New York City registered historic landmark. The stores also provided paint for the new Luna Park Scream Zone amusement park.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Capital Paint & Restoration and Capital Paint & True Value Hardware jumped into the cleanup and rebuilding efforts, partnering with local VFW posts and other community organizations to aid victims, and donating hundreds of gallons of paint to businesses and homeowners whose properties were damaged by the storm.
Gus and Andrea realize New Yorkers have a plethora of choices when it comes to buying paint, so they make their stores stand out by offering the personal assistance their customers look for when trying to find the right paint for the job. But it doesn’t stop at paint. When the couple moved Capital Paint & Restoration to its current location—at 2720 Avenue U, in Brooklyn—they expanded the operation to include a full design showroom. In addition to Pratt & Lambert paint, the store carries wallpaper and Hunter Douglas and Graber window treatments. A designer works on-site to provide customers with expert color guidance and to help them coordinate their design projects.
Whether you’re looking for personalized service, knowledgeable advice, or a sense of community, when you visit Capital Paint & Restoration or Capital Paint & True Value Hardware, you’ve come to the right place.
